What Subject Should I Study?
There is plenty of help available to you, so talk to our in house Careers Advisor, the Student Support Team and your existing teachers. We have a wide range of courses to ensure you will find the correct combination of subjects to enable you to secure your dream job.
It may help you to consider the following questions and talk them through with the professionals mentioned above:
What subjects do I enjoy?
What style of learning suits me?
What subjects am I likely to be successful in?
How well do I manage exam pressure?
What subjects are required for my chosen career?
We offer a wide range of A Levels so there is a lot of choice provided. All A Levels have exams as part of the assessment with only a few having a large coursework component so you will need to be able to cope with exam pressure. Some courses have been changed due to recent government reforms so you will need to look at courses and consider if there is an AS exam or you will be taking an exam at the end of a 2 year course. Some A Levels have very specific entry requirements so please check out the individual subject flyers.
BTEC courses have a more vocational focus so may suit you better if you already have a definite career in mind. BTEC courses especially suit students who prefer assessment through coursework rather than exams. These qualifications are no easier than A Levels though so still provide an excellent route into university, employment and apprenticeships.
To study at United Sixth Form you must achieve a minimum of five grade 5s in your GCSEs, including English Language and Mathematics.
